Lorne
|
Located less than 2 hours from Melbourne along the spectacular Great Ocean Road, Lorne's natural beauty
combined with its cosmopolitan street life, make it the ideal business or leisure retreat. With Erskine
Falls, and the Otway ranges in the backdrop Lorne is spectacular from any vantage point. Accommodation,
hotels, take away food and restaurants are abundant. Lornes beaches stretch for several kilometres from
the east to the Pier before the coastline becomes rugged.

Past Lorne the Great Ocean Road is perched high above the sea on a shelf following the undulating landscape
up, down and around the magnificent coastline. The stretch of road from Lorne to Kennett River is one of
the best driving experiences on a bike or in a car. It gets the blood boiling and the throttle pumping until
you turn a bend and see some poor guy who over cooked it splattered across the road.

The Great Ocean Road is unforgiving and it should be driven with respect and consideration given to other
drivers. Slower drivers should pull off wherever possible to keep the traffic flowing and boy racers need a
little patience to avoid coming to grief. Below are the entries for Lorne from the Colac Otway Travel Directory.
